What is DEEP
The Detroit Economic Energy Partnership (DEEP) is a Walker-Miller Energy Services initiative aimed at fostering resilient communities and growing a sustainable local economy, using an innovative approach to achieving home energy savings through impact investing.
DEEP is a neighbor-to-neighbor matching program that aims to increase access to energy efficiency and corresponding energy bill reductions, as well as health and safety benefits by providing comprehensive home energy assessments, customer education, and managed energy efficiency services.
How the Program Works
Matching grants from the business community and individual “Donor Homes” are the heart of this program. For every DEEP Home Energy Assessment purchased by a donor, an assessment will also be completed on a “Companion Home” owned by an asset-limited Detroit homeowner. By leveraging additional impact investing capital, each Companion Home will also receive energy efficiency retrofits that reduce the energy burden and deliver health + safety benefits at no cost.
